GERD is Africa’s largest hydropower station with 5.15 GW installed capacity,
producing 15,700 GWh annually. It is a milestone in addressing electricity shortages across East Africa and accelerating economic development.
DaqoTransformer supplied 116 dry-type transformers to Voith Hydro
(Germany), the project’s EPC contractor, under a USD 2.23 million contract. These transformers serve critical functions in power transmission and distribution within the dam, showcasing China’s advanced capabilities in global hydropower infrastructure.
