In dry-type transformer manufacturing, the standard use of epoxy resin generates significant waste, with industrial drums typically discarded as hazardous material after a single use. This conventional approach not only increases environmental burden but also adds to operational costs associated with disposal and compliance.
At Daqo Transformer, we identified an opportunity to rethink and redesign this process—reducing waste while maintaining the highest standards of product quality, safety, and performance.

A Closed-Loop Approach to Resin Drum Reuse
In collaboration with our resin suppliers, we implemented a closed-loop return-and-reuse system for epoxy resin drums. Rather than treating used drums as disposable waste, they are systematically recovered and reintroduced into the production cycle.
After each use, the drums undergo a comprehensive process that includes:
- Professional cleaning to remove all residual materials
- Rigorous inspection to ensure structural integrity
- Quality verification based on strict industrial standards
Only after passing all safety and quality checks are the drums approved for reuse. This ensures that sustainability improvements do not come at the expense of manufacturing reliability.
Digital Tracking for Full Lifecycle Control

To ensure transparency and accountability, each drum is digitally tracked throughout its entire lifecycle using mobile and web-based management platforms. This system allows real-time monitoring of each drum’s status, usage history, and inspection records.
Reuse is only authorized after meeting predefined inspection criteria, ensuring consistency, traceability, and operational safety at every stage. This digital integration also improves inventory management and reduces the risk of process errors.
Measurable Impact from a Practical Initiative
This systematic and scalable approach has delivered clear, quantifiable environmental and operational benefits:
- More than 1,300 industrial drums are avoided from disposal each year
- Over 20 tons of hazardous waste are eliminated annually
- Zero impact on transformer performance and production efficiency
These results demonstrate that sustainability initiatives can be both environmentally responsible and economically viable when properly implemented.
Setting a Benchmark for Sustainable Manufacturing
Recognized as a regional benchmark for zero-waste industrial practices, this program is now promoted locally as a reference model for sustainable manufacturing. It highlights how targeted process improvements can significantly reduce environmental impact without requiring disruptive changes to core production systems.
Integrating Sustainability into Everyday Operations
By embedding waste reduction into daily operations, Daqo Transformer shows that sustainability is not just a long-term goal but a practical, actionable strategy. Through systematic planning, strict quality control, and digital management, environmental responsibility becomes a repeatable and scalable part of manufacturing.
This approach delivers measurable benefits—not only in reducing waste and emissions but also in improving operational efficiency and resource utilization—creating long-term value for both the business and the environment.
