As one of the world’s major energy producers, Saudi Arabia continues to see
increasing electricity demand driven by economic development. The Qassim 1 and Taiba 1 combined cycle power plant projects represent a flagship example of deep energy cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia. The EPC contractor for both world-class projects is Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute, part of China Energy Engineering Group.
These plants use 1,800 MW gas turbine generator units, among the most advanced
globally in terms of efficiency and environmental protection. DaqoTransformer
supplied over 140 units of various models, with a total contract value exceeding
USD 7.24 million. These transformers ensure stable and efficient power transmission aligned precisely with generator performance, playing a vital role in supporting power supply capacity and energy structure optimization in Saudi Arabia.
